Jets lose 2 in Muskegon invitational

Jets volleyball dropped two at the Muskegon Community College Jayhawk Invitational Sunday.

In the first match, Jackson College lost in three set to Mott Community College, 0-3. Set scores were 15-25, 22-25, 23-25. High scorer for the Jets was Aleea Coulter with 8 points, 8 kills, 0 aces or blocks.

In the second game of the invitational, the Jets lost to St. Clair County Community College, 0-3. Set scores were 22-25, 21-25 and 11-25. Kelsey Duke was high scorer for the Jets with 8.5 points, 5 kills, 2 aces and 1.5 blocks.


OCTOBER 11, 2018

The Jackson College Jets volleyball team dropped a game to the Lansing Community College Stars Thursday, 0-3. Set scores were 20-25, 19-25, and 14-25.

Despite the loss, the Jets saw strong performances from point leaders Kelsey Duke and Alyssa Fowler, with 10.5 points each. Duke had 8 kills, 1 ace and 1.5 blocks. Fowler had 6 kills, 0 aces and 4 blocks.

With the loss, the Jets are 9-13 overall, 5-8 in the MCCAA Conference.


OCTOBER 9, 2018

Jackson College Jets volleyball defeated the Kalamazoo Valley Cougars Tuesday 3-1 in four sets at home; 22-25, 25-21, 25-17, and 25-22.

Kelsey Duke was high scorer for the Jets with 13.5 points, 11 kills, 0 aces and 2.5 blocks. Alyssa Fowler scored 13 points, 10 kills, 0 aces and 3 blocks.

With the win, the Jets are 5-7 in the conference and 9-10 overall.


OCTOBER 2, 2018

Jackson College Jets volleyball dropped a match Tuesday, Oct. 2 to Kellogg Community College Bruins, 3-2. Match scores were 19-25, 25-20, 25-21, 16-25 and 10-15.

Kelsey Duke and Shania Johnson led the scoring for the Jets. Duke had 9 kills, 2 aces and 3.5 blocks for 14.5 points, while Johnson had 14 kills, no aces or blocks, for 14 points.

With the loss, the Jets are 4-7 in the MCCAA Conference, for sixth place.

Jackson College volleyball overtakes Ancilla

Jackson College Jets volleyball defeated the Ancilla College Chargers on Thursday, 3-2. Set scores were 25-19, 22-25, 21-25, 25-15 and 15-9.

Kelsey Duke was high scorer with 17.5 points on the game; 12 kills, 1 ace and 4.5 blocks. Lindsey Leihman was the next highest scorer with 16 points; 12 kills, 1 ace and 3 blocks.

With the win, the Jets are 5-6 in the MCCAA Western Conference, 8-9 overall.

Volleyball defeats Lake Michigan 3-1

Jackson College Jets women's volleyball defeated Lake Michigan College 3-1 Tuesday on the road. Set scores were 25-20, 18-25, 25-21 and 25-23.

Kelsey Duke was high scorer for the Jets with 14.5 points; 10 kills, 2 aces and 2.5 blocks. Alyssa Fowler had 10 points, 9 kills, 0 aces and 1 block.

Jackson College Jets volleyball couldn't hold on against the Glen Oaks Community College Viking, falling 1-3; set scores 14-25, 25-22, 14-25 and 18-25.

Camryn Ward was high scorer for the Jets with 10 points (9 kills, 0 aces and 1 block).

The Jets are currently in sixth place in the MCCAA Western Conference, with a 3-5 conference record and 6-8 overall season record.

Jackson College Jets volleyball swept Schoolcraft College Sept. 14 in three sets, winning 3-0; set scores 25-10, 25-14, and 25-11.

Kelsey Duke was high scorer with 11.5 points (7 kills, 1 ace and 3 blocks), with Shania Johnson scoring 10.5 points (10 kills, .5 block).

The Jackson College Jets women's volleyball team lost one to Oakland Community College Sept. 14, playing at St. Clair Community College. Final score was 1-3, with set scores: 25-20, 14-25, 13-25, and 20-25.

The Jets had two scorers in double digits – Kelsey Duke with 12 points (6 kills, 1 ace, 5 blocks) and Shania Johnson with 11 points (11 kills). Oakland had three scorers in double digits – Allison Seelig, 15.5, Autumn Anderson, 14, and Sarah Armstrong, 11.

The Jackson College Jets women's volleyball team lost on the road to the Grand Rapids Community College Raiders Sept. 13, 3-0. Set scores were 8-25, 8-25 and 23-25.

High scorer for the Jets was Kelsey Duke with 6.5 points (3 kills, 2 aces and 1.5 block).

The Jackson College Jets battled the Lansing Community College Stars Sept. 11, but couldn't come out on top, losing 1-3. Set scores were 17-25, 25-18, 18-25, and 15-25.

Lansing's Maya Ferland was top scorer for the Stars with 21 points (18 kills, 0 aces and 3 blocks). For the Jets, Shania Johnson had 12 points for top scorer, with 12 kills.

Jackson College Jets volleyball dropped a game to the Kalamazoo Valley Cougars Sept. 6, 1-3. Set scores were: 12-25, 23-25, 25-21, and 11-25.

The Jets battled, but they couldn't match the Cougars scoring power, especially leading scorer McKenna Peters with 14 points (12 kills, 1 ace and 1 block). For the Jets, Lindsey Leihman and Kelsey Duke both have 7.5 points; Leihman had 6 kills, 1 ace and .5 block, Duke 3 kills, 1 ace and 3.5 blocks.


AUGUST 30 - SEPTEMBER. 1, 2018

2018 Owens Express Invitational, Owens Community College, Perrysburg, Ohio

PERRYSBURG, Ohio -- Jackson College Jets women's volleyball split four matches over the weekend at the Owens Express Invitational at Owens Community College, winning 2 and losing 2.

Jackson 3, Lakeland 2

The Jets overcame the Lakeland Community College Lakers 3-2 in five sets in the first tournament game Friday, 23-25, 25-19, 22-25, 25-12 and 15-13.

The Jets' Shania Johnson (Saginaw) was high scorer for the match, with 15.5 points overall – 11 kills, 4 aces and 1 block assist. Lakeland fought hard, taking the first and third sets, but ultimately the Jets came up with the win.

Jackson 3, Lorain County 0

Jets volleyball defeated the Lorain County Community College Commodores in three straight sets in their second match of the tournament, 3-0; 25-16, 25-13, and 26-24.

The Jets' Lindsey Leihman was high scorer with 12.5 points overall – 10 kills, 2 aces and 1 block assist. Shania Johnson had 12 points – 8 kills, 4 aces and no blocks.

Jackson 2, Cuyahoga CC 3

Jets volleyball get off to a strong start in their match against Cuyahoga Community College Saturday, but then fell to Challengers in the last three sets; 25-12, 25-16, 20-25, 16-25 and 10-15.

The Jets' Shania Johnson was top scorer with 18 points – 17 kills, 0 aces and 1 block. Kelsey Duke had 14 points, with 10 kills, 1 ace and 2.5 blocks.

Jackson 0, Edison CC 3

Jets volleyball fell in three straight sets to Edison Community College in their final tournament game, 0-3; 21-25, 14-25, and 19-25.

The Jets' Kelsey Duke was high scorer with 9 points – 9 kills, 0 aces or blocks. Alyssa Fowler had 8.5 points with 6 kills, 0 aces and 2.5 blocks.

The Jets are now 2-1 in the MCCAA Conference and 4-3 overall for the season. They will travel to Grace Christian University at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday for their next match.

Jackson College Jets volleyball picked up their second win of the season Thursday night at home against the Kellogg Community College Bruins, winning 3-0.

The Jets won in three straight sets, 25-17, 25-22, and 25-22. High scorer for the game was Camryn Ward, outside hitter, with 8 points – 6 kills, 0 aces and 2 blocks. Aleea Coulter, outside hitter, scored 6.5 points – 6 kills, 0 aces and .5 block.

With the win, the Jets are 2-1 in the MCCAA this season.

Jets volleyball picked up their first win of the season Tuesday, Aug. 26 again the Chargers of Ancilla College. The Jets won in five sets: 25-18, 25-18, 20-25, 22-25, and 15-11.

Leading scorer for the Jets was Kelsey Duke with 16.5 points; 11 kills, 0 aces and 5.5 blocks. Lindsey Leihman had 15 points; 10 kills, 2 aces and 3 blocks, and Shania Johnson had 14 points; 12 kills, 2 aces and 0 blocks.

With the win, the Jets go 1-1 on the season. They face Kellogg Community College Thursday, then travel to Owens Community College for a weekend tournament.

The Jackson College Jets women's volleyball team fell to Lake Michigan College Red Hawks, 0-3, in their first game of the season Thursday, Aug. 23.

The Red Hawks' McKenzie Smith, outside hitter, led her team's scoring with 14 points in three sets. She had 13 kills, 0 aces and 1 block. 

For the Jets, Camryn Ward, outside hitter, and Alyssa Fowler, middle hitter, both scored 8.5 points. Ward had 8 kills, 0 aces and .5 blocks, while Fowler had 5 kills, 0 aces and 3.5 blocks. As a team, the Jets had 22 kills, 26 errors and 117 total attempts in three sets.
