Soccer teams heading to tournament!

Congratulations to the Jets soccer teams on outstanding seasons! Following a 5-0 win over Lakeland College Saturday in the final regular season match, the women's team are NJCAA Region XII Division I champions! With a 7-1 conference record and 12-5 overall record, they go into this coming weekend's NJCAA Region XII Division 1 Tournament as the top seed! They will face the No. 4 seed Lake Michigan College at 12 noon Saturday at Schoolcraft College in Livonia.

The men's team finished in second place in the Region XII DI conference with two big wins this weekend, 4-0 over Lakeland on Saturday, and 6-0 over Cuyahoga Community College on Sunday. With an 8-2 conference record and 9-3-1 overall record, they enter this weekend's tournament as the No. 2 seed and will face the No. 3 seed Ancilla College at 7:30 p.m. Saturday.

Women's Game Saturday: Jets 5, Lakers 0

The Jets women ended the regular season with a big win over Lakeland College, 5-0. Both Skylar Gilbert and Amy Scruggs scored 2 goals on the day, Gilbert at the 21:11 (assist from Kate McElhone) and 60:11 (assist from Kayler Beech) minute marks, and Scruggs at the 29:23 (assist from Gilbert) and 75:22 (assist from Renata Cunningham) minute marks. Paige Gunn scored the final goal of the game at the 81:51 minute mark, with an assist from Katie Brown. Goalie Katarzynia Polek got the win for the Jets.

Men's Game Saturday: Jets 4, Lakers 0

On Saturday, the Jets men's soccer team shut out the Lakers of Lakeland College 4-0. Gonzalo Bocaz scored 3 of the 4 goals for the Jets, at the 34:56 (assist from Samuel Lebbe) minute mark, 65:32 minute mark (unassisted), and 67:40 (assist from Lebbe) minute mark; and a team goal at the 69:52-minute mark, assist from Kengo Yanai. Goalie Cheikh Diouf took the win for the Jets.

Men's Game Sunday: Jets 6, Challengers 0

On Sunday, the Jets men's soccer team scored a big win over Cuyahoga Community College 6-0. The team got on the board with a goal at the 11:41-mintue mark (assist by Thomas Ross), followed by two goals from Gonzalo Bocaz at the 19:43 (assist by Samuel Lebbe) minute mark and 40:27 (team assist) minute mark. Bryce Ernstes scored unassisted at the 74:30-minute mark, Alec Carroll scored with a team assist at the 87:48-minute mark, and Justin Schroeder scored with an assist from Carroll at the 89:46-minute mark. Goalie Cheikh Diouf got the win for the Jets.
