Jets’ women on winning streak, down GR 64-54

Jackson College Jets' women's basketball stretched their winning streak to 11 Friday with a 64-54 victory over Grand Rapids CC at home in the Victor Cuiss Fieldhouse.

Forward Taylor Long was high scorer for the Jets with 14 points, followed by forward Alexis Thompson with 12 points. Thompson shot 100 percent for the night from the floor with two 3-pointers, one layup and 2 free throws. Forward Madison Montgomery was hot on the boards with 11 rebounds and scoring 7 points.

The Jets' record is 11-1 overall and 3-0 in the MCCAA Conference. They are on the road Wednesday (Jan. 15) at Muskegon Community College.


Jackson College women's basketball starts the conference season strong, with an eight-game winning streak in the pre-season and a win in their season opener!

The Jets were strong in their field goal percentage, shooting 54.9 percent against the Kalamazoo Valley Cougars in Michigan Community College Athletic Conference opener Saturday, Jan. 4. They Jets won 82-71. Guard Daelyn Merillat was the high scorer with 21 points and 9 assists. Alexis Thompson, Marissa Shaw and Taylor Long each had 9 rebounds. The Jets were strong on their free throws, hitting 17 of 23 for 73.9 percent.

The Jets are 1-0 in MCCAA-West, and 9-1 overall this season. They will travel to Indiana to face Ancilla College Wednesday, Jan. 8.
