Tammy Bates is in her first year as assistant coach at Jackson College. Coach Bates brings 37 years of coaching experience at various levels in the Jackson area to the current coaching staff.

 

Coach Bates started her career as the assistant basketball and softball coach at Albion College. Shortly after, she was named the varsity softball coach at Lumen Christi High School where she won four District Titles. In 2005 Coach Bates made the switch to Springport High School where she assisted with the JV and varsity softball programs and served as the JV basketball coach for five years (record: 91-16) and varsity basketball coach for four years (record 75-39). Coach Bates led the Spartans to four district basketball titles.

 

In 2005, Bates was named to the Siena Heights Athletic Hall of Fame where she played softball during the 1986-‘89 seasons.
