Jackson College women's softball signed four players for the 2018-19 season recently. They are:
- Jessica Kane is a senior at Tecumseh High, graduating this spring. She plays second base and center field for the Indians for coach Jeff Nowak. Kane is a member of the National Honors Society at Tecumseh. She enjoyed the Jackson College atmosphere and people and finds it welcoming. "Jessica has a great presence in the batter's box and read the ball well in the outfield. She is a very good student and athlete," said Jamie Vandenburgh, head coach.
- Mackenzie North is a senior at Lowell High School, graduating this spring. She is a utility softball player for the Red Arrows and coach Bill Elroy. An honor roll student for ninth-12th grades, North was All Conference in ninth, 10th and 11th grades, and All District in 10th and 11th grades. She is excited to join an up-and-coming, talented softball program and enjoys the College's great academics and nice campus. "Mackenzie or 'Kenzie' is a very talented player. She will succeed at any position on the field, and we cannot wait to see the positive impact she will have on our team," Vandenburgh said.
- Koryn Playford is a senior at Jonesville High, graduating this spring. She plays middle infield for the Comets and coach Chelsea Wright. In high school she has been on the high honor roll, National Honor Society and named Academic All Conference. For softball, she has been All Conference, All District and Hillsdale County Athlete of the Week. She's enjoyed the camps and coach at Jackson, and wanted to attend somewhere close to home where she could still play softball. "Koryn is an exceptional athlete who is versatile on the field. We are excited to have her attend Jackson and play softball!" Vandenburgh said.
- Hailey Roy is a senior at Grass Lake High, graduating in 2018. She is a pitcher for the Warriors and coach Roger Cook. Roy has been named All Conference, All District, All Region and Honorable Mention All State. She wanted to become a Jet because Jackson College is close to home and she is interested in the nursing program. "Hailey is a strong left pitcher from local Grass Lake High school. She has had success from both the mound and the batter's box. She will round out our pitching staff for next year," Vandenburgh said.
