Men's soccer wins over Muskegon Jayhawks

OCTOBER 17, 2018

Jackson College Jets men's soccer scored a big win Wednesday over Muskegon Community College, 4-0 at home.

Gonzalo Bocaz scored at the 16-minute mark for the Jets, with an assist from Alec Carroll. Abdullahi Osman scored unassisted at the 59-minute mark, Samuel Lebbe scored with an assist from Bocaz at the 75-minute mark, and Justin Schroeder scored with an assist from Osman at the 88-minute mark. Goalie Cheikh Diouf received the win for the Jets.

With the win, the Jets are 4-3-1 in the MCCAA League, 7-3-1 overall, and 6-2 in the NJCAA Region XII Conference. They have two more games in the regular season, both on the road, Saturday against Lakeland Community College and Sunday against Cuyahoga Community College.


OCTOBER 7, 2018

The Jets men's soccer team couldn't hold off the Cuyahoga Community College Challengers Sunday, losing 3-0 at home.

Cuyahoga scored once in the first half and then twice in the second half. The Jets tried with 15 shots on the game, but could not score. Goalie Cheikh Diouf takes the loss.

The Jets conference record is 3-7 and overall record is 3-11.


OCTOBER 6, 2018

Jets men's soccer topped the Lakeland CC team 1-0 Saturday.

Jackson's Gonzalo Bocaz scored at the 30-minute mark in the first, with an assist by Bryce Ernstes. Goalie Cheikh Diouf took the win with 7 saves.

With the win, the Jets are in third place in the NJCAA Region XII Division 1 standings, with a 3-3 conference record and 4-4-1 overall record.


SEPTEMBER 22, 2018

Jackson College men's soccer fell to Ancilla College Saturday, 1-0.

The Jets and the Chargers were scoreless in the first half. The lone goal came well into the second half, the 82-minute mark, scored by Ancilla's Issac Rodrigues. Goalie Casey Kirkbride of the Jets took the loss.

Jets men's soccer overtakes Spring Arbor JV team

The Jackson College Jets men's soccer team overtook the Spring Arbor University junior varsity team Sept. 14, 4-1.

Scoring for the Jets were: Samuel Lebbe at the 34-minute mark with assist by Bryce Ernstes; Gonzalo Bocas at the 58-minute mark with assist by Lebbe, then again at the 64-minute mark with assist by Francisco Mosquera; and Gilby Lenz a the 68-minute mark, with assist from Justin Schroeder.

The Jets are tied for second in the MCCAA Conference with Schoolcraft College, both 2-1-1 on the season.

Men's soccer defeats Lake Michigan Red Hawks

Jackson College men's soccer defeated the Lake Michigan College Red Hawks Sept. 12 in Benton Harbor, 4-1.

Scoring for the Jets were Abdullahi Osman at 24:39-minute mark, unassisted; Gonzalo Bocaz at the 72:33-minute mark, assisted by Samuel Lebbe; Lebbe at the 76:32-minute mark, assisted by Daniel Hartman; and Francisco Mosquera at the 83:12-minute mark, assisted by Cheikh Diouf. Diouf was the winning goalie for the game.

Soccer tops Ancilla College in away game

Jackson College Jets men's soccer came away victorious in their game against the Ancilla College Chargers Sept. 9, 5-1.

Scoring for the Jets were: Francisco Mosquera with assist by Gonzalo Bocaz; Casey Kirkbride with assist from Jack Hyames; Samuel Lebbe with assist from Mosquera; Thomas Ross with assist from Bryce Ernstes; and Bocaz unassisted. Goalkeeper Cheikh Diouf took the win for the Jets.

Men's soccer is 1-1-1 in the MCCAA Conference and on the season.


SEPTEMBER 5, 2018

Men's soccer drops game to Muskegon

Jackson College Jets men's soccer lost a game 3-2 to the Muskegon Community College Jayhawks Sept. 5 at Muskegon.

Scorers for the Jets included Bryce Ernstes at the 72-minute mark, with assist from Gonzalo Bocaz, and Samuel Lebbe at the 87-minute mark, unassisted. Goalkeeper Cheikh Diouf took the loss for the Jets.


AUGUST 28, 2018

The Jackson College Jets men's soccer time played a tight match with the Schoolcraft College Ocelots on Wednesday, ending with a 3-3 tie after a double overtime.

Sophomore Abdullahi Osman, an international student from Somalia, scored 2 of the Jets' 3 goals of the game, the first at the 11-minute mark and the next at the 56-minute mark, both unassisted. The Jets third goal is credited to the team and came at the 57-minute mark. The Ocelets three goals came at the 51, 58 and 69-minute marks. Despite playing two overtime periods, neither team was able to score again.

The Jets are 0-0-1 in the MCCAA Conference with coach Dan Bulley. They play at Muskegon Community College Wednesday, Sept. 5.
