Basketball teams end season after tournament quarter-finals

Both Jackson College Jets basketball teams lost in their first-round play in NJCAA XII district tournaments Tuesday.

The Jets women played at home against Grand Rapids Community College in a nail-biter that they lost by just one point, 60-59. The Jets got off to a big lead in the first quarter, scoring 19-11, but the Raiders came back in the second, 15-14, and in the third and fourth, 19-12 and 15-14.

High scorer for the Jets was Arjanae Morgan with 22 points. Also scoring in double digits were Charyanna Pershay with 12 and Marissa Shaw with 10.

Playing in Indiana, the Jets men lost to Ancilla College, 81-62.
