The Jackson College Jets men's basketball team defeated the Lansing Community College Stars Wednesday, 85-79.

With the win, the Jets go to 7-4 in the Michigan Community College Athletic Association Western Conference, tied with Grand Rapids for third place behind the undefeated Ancilla College and Lake Michigan College (8-3 record).

Guard Brandon Thomas was high scorer for the game with 27 points, as well as five rebounds. Also scoring in double digits were point guard Devaughn Munson with 14 and guard/forward Jermayne Golidy with 13. Click here for box score.

Lansing had four players scoring in the double digits, including Darious Young with 28 on the night.

The Jets women's team lost Wednesday to the Lansing Community College Stars 84-88. The women's team is 3-7 in the Western Conference. They are tied with Grand Rapids for sixth place in the conference.

Jackson travels to Glen Oaks Community College for games Friday night.

The Jackson College Jets women's basketball team put a win in the books against Kellogg Community College there on Jan. 20, defeating the Bruins 69-45.

Guard Sydney Brown was high scorer for the game, scoring 20 points. Brown also had seven steals and three rebounds. Guard Arjanae Morgan scored 14 with seven rebounds, while guard/forward Kelsey Underhile scored 11 with eight rebounds.

Kellogg had three players score in double digits; Sarah Gwinn, 13, Destiny Kincaide, 12, and Dareka Clayton, 11.

With the win, the Jets went 4-10 overall and 2-4 record in the conference.

The Jets men's basketball team defeated the Bruins of Kellogg Community College 76-64 on Jan. 20 in Battle Creek.

Guard Brandon Thomas was high scorer for the game with 22 points, while point guard Devaughn Munson scored 17, with five rebounds. Also scoring in double digits were guard Andrew Nicholson Jr. with 13, and guard/forward Michael Bruce with 11.

With the win, the Jets were 9-7 overall and 3-3 in conference play.

Kalamazoo Valley at Jackson College, 1/24/18

The Jets men's basketball team defeated the Kalamazoo Valley Cougars at home Jan. 24, 94-81.

Guard Brandon Thomas and guard/forward Jagger Surface both scored 22 points to lead the Jets on the night. Thomas also had nine rebounds and eight assists for the night. Guard Andrew Nicholson Jr. scored 17 points for the game.

KVCC's Cougars had four score in double digits, Caleb Eustice with 23, Tanner Eubank with 21, Tre Humes 19, and Ken Redfield Jr. with 11.

With the win, the Jets record was 10-7 overall and 4-3 in conference play.

Facing the Mid Michigan Community College Lakers, the Jets women's basketball team lost 63-55 on Jan. 27.

The Jets Chelsea Palmer, forward, was the only player to score in double digits, with 15 points and 12 rebounds. They also had 19 turnovers on the game. The Lakers had three players score in double digits, with Breyton Meeks scoring 20, Summer Ward 12 and Madison Brock 10.

With the loss, the Jets record was 4-11 overall and 2-5 in conference play.

Jets women's basketball put up a fight but couldn't overcome Muskegon Community College Jayhawks on Jan. 31, losing 68-63.

Guard/forward Dajunae Favorite was high scorer for the night with 18 points, followed by forward Chelsea Palmer with 16. The Jayhawks had four players score in double digits, Tierra Williams with 15, Iyana Brown 14, Delaney Bolles, 13, and Ashantai Hale-Sandifer, 10.

With the loss, the Jets record was 4-12 overall and 2-6 in conference play.

The Jets men's basketball team put another win in the books when they faced the Muskegon Community College Jayhawks on Jan. 31.

Leading scorer for the Jets was guard/forward Jagger Surface with 23 points and five rebounds. Guard/forward Jermayne Golidy scored 20, guard/forward Michael Bruce scored 17 and had 15 rebounds, and point guard Devaughn Munson scored 12.

The Jayhawks had five players score in double digits, but they couldn't overcome the Jets. With the win, the Jets record overall is 11-8 and 5-4 in the conference.

The Jets' Brandon Thomas helped lead his team to victory in a close game Saturday over Grand Rapids Community College. Thomas scored 27 points in the Jets 84-81 victory over the Raiders.

Thomas scored 27 points on the night, and going 11-12 from the free throw line. Forward Karinn Davis Jr. scored 16 points, and guard Devaughn Munson scored 13.

It was a close game with the lead going back and forth throughout the second half. The Jets pulled away with the lead at about the 4-minute mark and held it for the rest of the game.

The Raiders' Curtis Davidson scored 30 on the night, and three other players scored in the double digits.

With the win, the Jets record goes to 12-8 on the season and 6-4 in conference play.

Teamwork did the job for the Jackson College Jets women's basketball team in its victory over Grand Rapids Community College Raiders Saturday, 64-54.

Leading scorer for the game was forward Chelsea Palmer with 17 points and had 11 rebounds, and guard Anastasia Ramos scored 11 for the game. The Raiders had three players score in double digits.

The teams were close right up to the fourth quarter, when Grand Rapids pulled ahead. The Jets battled back and took the lead at about the 5-minute mark, and held it for the rest of the game.

With the win, the Jets record is 5-12 overall and 3-6 in the conference.
