Jets Baseball clinch MCCAA Championship

Jackson, MI - May 7, 2016 the Jets defeat Kalamazoo Valley Community College in two contest.  With the wins Jackson College Jets Baseball team clinched the top spot in the Michigan Community College Athletic Association.  The MCCAA Championship is the team's first since 2009. "This is an exciting time for this team and our program," commented Jackson College Head Coach Rick Smith "We have been working hard to get us back to this level. I'm looking forward tournament play and what we can accomplish beyond this point."  The Jets are currently 22-2 in conference play and 34-11 overall. 

 

The Jets are currently ranked 19th in the nation and will enter the National Junior College Athletic Association Region XII tournament as the #1 seed.  Their first game in the tournament is scheduled to take place at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 18, 2016 at Nichols Field in Bailey Park located in Battle Creek, MI.  The tournament schedule can be found at http://www.mccaa.org/f/17/1/Baseball/2016_NJCAA_Region_XII_Tournament.php

 

Prior to tournament play the Jets will play their final double header of the season at 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 10, 2016 at Lansing Community College. They will finish the regular season with a single 9-innning non-conference game scheduled for 1:00 p.m. on Friday, May 13, 2016 at Jackson College against the #2 team in the MCCAA, Kellogg Community College.
