Jackson College Coach Honored
Jackson College Head Baseball Coach Rick Smith was recently honored by the American Baseball Coaches Association for a "Quarter Century of Leadership and Dedication to Baseball". Jackson College is winding down their regular season and moves on to the post-season tournament in Battle Creek. Coach Smith also serves as Director of Athletic Development and Assistant Athletic Director at Jackson College. He has served as Head Baseball Coach since 2006. Other guests: Northwest Schools Superintendent Geoff Bontrager; Lisa Bonney, Executive Director, Cascades Humane Society with Rachel Brege, chairman, "Paws in the Park" (June 7 at Cascades); Ben Sanford, Jackson Area Career Center FFA student; Jackson College "Heart and Soul Award" winners Jasmine Parks, Christina Peltier, Kim Schippers and Abby Sovoda; Rock Mangus and Leanna Schwartz, Mission of Hope Cancer Fund.
