Grand Rapids women's cross country team wins third straight, claiming Firebird Invitational crown

The Grand Rapids Community College women's cross country team continued their dominance over the MCCAA with their third consecutive in on Friday. The Raiders won the Firebird Invitational with 38 points over second place St. Clair County Community College. Jackson College finished third, ahead of Kellogg CC and Mott CC, who round out the top five. 

On the individual side, Kiah Becker won her third straight meet, completing the five kilometer course in 21:07.1, 15 second ahead of Jackson College's Maddie Humphreys. St. Clair claimed the third and fourth spots with Lily Connelly and Caitlyn Rogers. Fifth and sixth spots went to Audrey Meyering and Carolanne Merlington of Grand Rapids CC. St. Clair's Rachel Dussett was seventh, while eighth went to Harmony Harpster of Jackson College. The top ten was rounded out by Kathryn DeLeeuw of Grand Rapids CC and Macy Whipple of Muskegon CC. 

All 11 MCCAA teams will compete again at the MCCAA/NJCAA Region XII Championship on October 31 in Lansing, MI. Several MCCAA teams will compete at the Jayhawk Invitational on October 17.
